It's September!

It's September, one of my favorite times of the year. Kids are back in school. The leaves are just starting to change. The days are still warm and the nights come a little earlier with a bit of nip to them, perfect for a sweater and a backyard fire. The apple trees in my garden were loaded this year so I spent a whole week canning apples, apple juice, apple sauce, apple butter and drying apple chips. It was ALOT of apples. But I can think of worse things than my house smelling like apple pie for the next month.

The cooler nights and fireplaces also get me seriously into knitting mode. It won't be long before the hat and mitten bin gets opened for those chilly early morning dog walks. And I hate to mention Christmas but as soon as its September, many hard-core knitters like me are immediately making a mental list of how many mitts, hats and socks we can whip off in time. Its like a switch - its September, there's a tree that just turned yellow, its dark at 8pm, must knit something!

Right now I'm working on finishing Seahorse mittens and should have them done just in time to photograph them with the changing leaves and get the pattern online before fall officially begins. Its a fun pattern with lots of swirls and who wouldn't want seahorse mittens for Christmas?
