ABOUT

Hello and welcome to my world! I'm Sharon Oliveira and I've been knitting for as long as I can remember. As I grew up in a small town, I started with Paton's patterns and yarns from Woolworths (yeah, I'm totally dating myself) At first I would only knit at home because well, it wasn't cool to knit or so I thought at the time.
My knitting world truly exploded when I discovered Lopi and knitting Icelandic sweaters in the round! Where did you get that sweater!? I made it. Seriously? That's so cool! In fact I got so quick at whipping up a whole sweater that I paid my way through my first year of university knitting sweaters. I also taught around 20 other students in residence how to knit. It was my fist inkling that not only could knitting be as cool as I thought it was, but that I could also make a living at it. But I was too young to be that brave and followed a regular career path of accounting and business. And I never stopped knitting.
I love knitting because not only is it time for creative contemplation, knitting is also about endless possibilities. Making my own designs started over 20 years ago when I was searching for patterns for my kids but at that time (pre-Pirates of the Caribbean movies) there wasn't really anything pirate themed. So I adapted my first pattern, mittens with a skull and crossed swords. Not only were my wee pirates pleased but I was hooked as well! After decades of knitting, I had opened yet another door, that's became an obsession really. Now I'm stepping into an even bigger adventure in publishing them, in the hope of inspiring the next generation of knitters with patterns that are beautiful and fun.

I hope you enjoy knitting these patterns as much as I've enjoyed creating them.
My goal is that I have provided knitting worth your time.
